Every little girl’s dream is to dance like a fairy with their ballet shoes on. Ballet is a dance that sustains grace, precision and flexibility. The shoe in ballet would spell the difference in practice sessions and during actual performance. It is best to know what footwear to use in order for your little girls dream and yours to come true.

During the 15th century when ballet was first performed as a mere entertainment in Italian Renaissance courts before France and Russia developed it, performers were bare footed. The performers would glide through the hall enchantingly. When France and Russia developed it into a dance concert, meaning that a relative topic or a story is portrayed, the shoe was still a high heel with buckle.

Marie Taglioni may not be the first to dance in pointe but definitely was the first to perform without the aid of a wire. Pictures show that in the 17th century, pictures of dancers were seen dancing on pointe so to dispel the fact that Taglioni was the first to have pointe shoes. The performance of Marie Taglioni in “La Sylphide” in 1832 were she wore a satin slippers with an open end began the history of ballet shoes.

Not until the 20th century that the shoe in ballet really took its final form with different designs and colors. In the 1800′s, shoes were still made of layered fabric and hardened by carton boxes, flour and pieces of paper to support the toes. Modern ballet shoes gave ballerinas more room for comfort and the necessary support for their foot for a safe and splendid performance.

Types of shoes for ballet:

• Soft – Soft and comfy shoes for beginners that is available with or without straps

• Pointe – Worn by experienced ballerinas for proper pirouette and the much challenging turn on the toe, the pirouette à la seconde. This type of shoe is available locally at the store but it is much preferred by ballerinas to have the shoe custom built for proper fit.

• Full and Split Sole – The sole is properly reinforced with suede or other reinforcing material. Ballerinas can use the full sole shoe for greater protection but may not be flexible enough for comfort. To give the shoe the appropriate flexibility the dancer needs, the split sole shoe is recommended where the toe and the heel are the one reinforced.

Great deals are offered which costumers would gladly avail off since the shoe has few and rare sale. Holidays and summer are the best season to avail of discount or great deal of the ballerina shoe you might want to have.
